We are delighted to announce that for our Fall Meeting on 18 October 2024, NACIIL/NVRII will host Advocate-General Medina from the Court of Justice EU (CJEU) for a seminar on European Insolvency Law and CJEU case law. Together with Lilian Welling-Steffens and Daphne Beunk, A-G Medina will present attendees with an accessible and highly informative program on the EU international private and insolvency law landscape.
After a short introduction into the various relevant EU law instruments, the international private law aspects of director liability, shareholder liability and ‘Peeters-Gatzen’ claims will be discussed. A-G Medina will conclude the day with a key note speech on the role of the CJEU in the development of European private international and insolvency law and on the ongoing discussions on the deliniation of scope between the European Insolvency Regulation and the Brussels 1 bis Regulation.
